Following the previous Culture programme, it aimed at supporting Europe's cultural and creative sectors, funding artists and cultural professionals, cinemas, films and book translations. Creative Europe encouraged those active in the audio-visual, cultural and creative sectors to operate across Europe, to reach new audiences and to develop the skills needed in the digital age. By helping European cultural and audio-visual works to reach audiences in other countries, the programme aimed to contribute to safeguarding cultural and linguistic diversity. In particular, the Media sub-programme supported the EU film and audio-visual industries financially in the development, distribution and promotion of their work, while the Culture sub-programme aimed to help cultural and creative organisations to operate transnationally, to promote the cross-border circulation of works of culture, and to support the mobility of cultural players. In this context, Climate Change was seen as one of the most distressing problems and issues of modern times, that need to be addressed by arts. In 2021 the new Creative Europe Programme (2021-2027) has started. | High Ambition | Arts for Climate, Cultural Activities, Engagement, Dissemination | Green Culture | 5 | 2014-2020 | https://www.eacea.ec.europa.eu/grants/2014-2020/creative-europe_en | F.P. |

It invests in actions that reinforce cultural diversity and respond to the needs and challenges of the cultural and creative sectors. The programme aims to safeguard, develop and promote European cultural and linguistic diversity and heritage; it also aims to increase the competitiveness and economic potential of the cultural and creative sectors, in particular the audio-visual sector. Novelties of the program are: a stronger emphasis on transnational creation and on innovation; an easier access to funding through higher co-financing rates (greater contribution levels from Creative Europe for projects); the emphasis on supporting EU-level cooperation to make the European audio-visual sector more competitive globally; a mobility scheme for artists and professionals; actions that target the needs of specific creative sectors, such as music, architecture, and cultural heritage. These novelties will contribute to the recovery of these sectors, reinforcing their efforts to become more inclusive, more digital and environmentally more sustainable. The Creative Europe programme is divided in 3 strands: culture, media and cross-sectoral strands. Within the culture strand, Creative Europe aims to stimulate the digital and environmental transition of the European Culture and Creative Sectors. | High Ambition | Arts for Climate, Cultural Activities, Engagement, Dissemination | 5 | 2021-2027 | https://ec.europa.eu/culture/funding-creative-europe/about-the-creative-europe-programme | F.P.

In keeping with the European Cultural Foundation's mission to create solidarity through culture, the Fund specifically welcomes actions in line with the theme of this call that forge European transnational and/or translocal collaborations, and thereby build cross-border alliances of solidarity. This new call supports European transnational collaborative initiatives that address the theme of just transition and environmental sustainability from a specifically cultural angle. Grants can be used to finance a wide range of activities, from seeding entirely new initiatives to scaling up existing ideas to a European level. Grants can cover production, rent, online co-working and communication tools. It continues the previous Erasmus + Programme (2014-2020) and it has an estimated budget of € 26.2 billion, which is nearly double the funding compared to the programme's previous edition (2014-2020). After the success of the previous Programme (2014-2020), Erasmus + (2021-2027) increases its opportunities for a larger numebr of participants and organizations. The 2021-2027 programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life. It supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda. The programme also supports the European Pillar of Social Rights, implements the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 and develops the European dimension in sport. Environment and climate action are key priorities for Europe, now and in the future, and the European Green Deal Communication has recognised the key role of schools, training institutions and universities to engage with pupils, parents, and the wider community on the changes needed for a successful transition to become climate neutral by 2050. Therefore, the Programme will be a key instrument for the building of knowledge, skills and attitudes on climate change and sustainable development both within the European Union and beyond. | High Ambition | Education, Engagement | 5 | 2021-2027 | https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/about-erasmus/what-is-erasmus | F.P.
