The Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali takes part in the celebrations taking place in Cape Town, South Africa, from the 26th to the 28th of May 2022, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention in Africa.
Following the Africa Day commemoration on the 25th of May, ICCROM and the African World Heritage Fund brings together experts and professionals to reflect upon what has been done in the African countries to implement the convention. Thanks to the coordination of the UNESCO office at the Italian Ministry of Culture, and in collaboration with Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali, selected experts present specific cultural sites and practices as exemplary models.
During the workshop titled “World heritage in Africa: looking back…moving ahead“, these Italian experts, who are also representatives of some of the World Heritage sites, share with their African peers the risks and difficulties of the processes inherent to the candidacy and management of cultural sites.
This is a valuable opportunity to share knowledge on the best practices in the field, and to draw attention on the many educational and research projects that the Foundation, in collaboration with ICCROM, will realise in the African countries in the near future.
