cultural heritage according to

The only conclusion is: the responsibility for these issues is on all of us, because the protection of the sacred heritage of art, particularly for Italy and its cities, must be ensured by all citizens, by those who see themselves as subjects and not objects in their society. They cannot leave these tasks only to the so-called competent authorities. It is first and foremost a moral requirement and then a technical issue.

Cesare Brandi

I have never understood why a wall of broken bricks should be observed speaking with a quiet voice, almost as if celebrating a rite whose meaning and end are not comprehensible. Sometimes, we may wonder if, in certain cases, the love for heritage is not too jealous or short-sighted or self-contented. But if we really want the legacy of the past to have a future, we must not only get to know this legacy but also share it. This is indeed our today as scholars.

Daniele Manacorda

Cultural heritage is a group of resources inherited from the past which people identify, independently of ownership, as a reflection and expression of their constantly evolving values, beliefs, knowledge and traditions. It includes all aspects of the environment resulting from the interaction between people and places through time.
Faro Convention, October 27, 2005

The most abundant thing on earth is landscape. Even though all the rest is missing, there has always been a surplus of landscape, an abundance that can only be defined as indefatigable, since landscape has undoubtedly preceded man; nevertheless, even if it has existed for a long time, it has not yet become exhausted (....) So much landscape. A man can roam throughout his life and never find himself, if he got lost as soon as he was born lost. And he will die in same condition when his time comes.

Josè Saramago

``Landscape`` means an area, as perceived by people, whose character is the result of the action and interaction of natural and/or human factors.
